  Mission

The Farmers’ Market at Poplar Grove was established to provide a retail outlet for local growers and producers to sell their goods directly to consumers. The market strives to educate consumers on local farm products and practices, promote the use of local products and serve the community through programming and activities.

The market will be open every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Visit and shop with a large variety of vendors offering fresh eggs, herbs, cut flowers, seafood, beef, poultry, goat, lamb, bakery breads and sweet confections; arts and crafts including jewelry, photography, woven, knitted and quilted items, outdoor furniture, birdhouses, pottery; as well as native plants, landscape and bedding plants, hardy orchids, hanging baskets, popcorn, peanuts, goat cheese, muscadine wine, fresh berries and produce and much more.  Products and produce change according to availability and season.  See the list of vendors for more information and feel free to e-mail us if you have a question about a particular product.  Come enjoy the open-air market on the front lawn of the historic plantation under the big shade trees with plenty of free parking.  We have some wagons available for your shopping use and you are welcome to bring your own. Check out this page for upcoming special programs scheduled at the market throughout the year.

The 2nd Wednesday of each month, April – November,  the Pender County Master Gardeners will be here for a Plant Clinic. They will answer questions about lawns, landscape plants, fruits and vegetables.  You can bring sick plants, weeds or mystery plants and they will try to diagnose or identify them.  Information about the Master Gardener program, newsletters and soil testing supplies will be available.

  Opening Day

Wool n’ Wood Show
Opening Day of the Farmers’ Market

Wednesday April 4th 8:00 -1:00 PM

It's talent on display opening day! Be sure to visit the Wool 'n Wood Show in the Cultural Arts Center. The Cape Fear Rug Hookers and the Cape Fear Woodcarvers share their craftsmanship in beautiful displays and live demonstrations.

Many exquisite artists call the plantation home and there's no better proof than the hand-carved sea-life, animals, flowers and whimsical characters, created by the Cape Fear Woodcarvers. Generous members share techniques and tips for bringing wood to life in live demonstrations throughout the morning.

With strips of wool, a hook and a creative heart, artist-members of the Cape Fear Rug Hookers offer an amazing and colorful body of prize-winning work. Taking inspiration from all aspects of life, you'll find images of pets, people and landscapes covering the walls in the Cultural Arts Center. Members demonstrate and offer words of wool-dom about supplies, equipment and techniques.

Free admission. It only happens once a year so, be sure to see the show before or after you shop the Farmers Market!
