Help Wanted: Volunteer to be Volunteer Coordinator
Do you have a green thumb? ...gardeners needed Need:
We have been given
a huge pile of mulch for
the flower beds, which needs to be spread.
This helps keep down the weeds as well as hold
moisture in the dryer season. As you know it takes a lot of work to keep up the beautiful grounds that we have here at Poplar Grove. It is a constant effort on the part of many of our staff and volunteers. However, many hands make light work, so if you have a green thumb or just love working outside there is always a place for you here. Spring is here and lots of things need attention. Need: Cutting out old growth
preparing plants for new growth. The greenhouse is being used for the first time in many years. There are plants that have been saved over the winter and many tiny vegetables popping their heads out of peat pots. Need: Cultivate
more plants from seeds and cuttings For more information pgp@poplargrove.com or phone at 686-9518 ext. 21 or 686-9518 ext. 22.
The
Agricultural Building at Poplar Grove houses lots of old farm equipment,
implements and This building is kept open to visitors year round and collects lots of dust, leaves, birds and squirrels. Need: The
platforms need to be cleaned and painted.
Wagons Many of you know that we have some little yellow wagons that are sponsored by various companies to be used at our Farmers' Market and other events for use by our visitors. These wagons have been used so much and need some attention to start our new season. Need: Clean
and touch up paint on wagons
Our grounds consist mostly of sand and it can be quite challenging to get grass to grow in sand. We desperately need to expand our irrigation system. Need: Donations for materials
